Behaviour Policy

In our school community we expect high standards of behaviour to ensure a safe, caring, happy and positive environment for everyone.

Our school charter sets the standard that we expect all pupils to follow by underpinning the values and expectations of our community. At the same time children’s involvement is encouraged in the creation of other codes of conduct.

These include good citizenship, personal and social skills, high self-esteem, and dealing with difficult situations, on a planned and regular basis, as part of their PSHCE curriculum.

Our behaviour policy sets out our response to all unwelcome behaviour. Bullying in any form is not acceptable and there is a strong commitment to its eradication in our school.

Pupils are encouraged to make independent choices and take responsibility for their own actions.

We believe that rewarding positive behaviour is important and we do this in a variety of ways.

These include:

  • A postcard sent to a pupil’s home by the Headteacher or Deputy Headteachers. This celebrates success in activities both in and out of school.
  • Behaviour charts are used in all classes to promote positive behaviours and ensure children are accountable for their behaviour.
  • Classes can earn postcards for showing excellent learning behaviours. These are collated by the senior leadership team and lead to additional class activity times.
  • Special Mentions regarding our values and Author/Mathematician of the Week are celebrated in assemblies where children are awarded stickers or certificates.

The above rewards are published in the regular school newsletter and displayed in reception.
