At The Federation of Netley Abbey Infant and Junior Schools, we are passionate about developing children into confident, creative and capable writers. Through high-quality books, stories and real-life experiences, children are inspired to write for a range of purposes and audiences.
We place a strong emphasis on spoken language and use our Think, Nest, Pair, Share approach to help children explore ideas, develop vocabulary and organise their thoughts before writing.
Teachers carefully model the writing process, enabling children to build their knowledge of sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and spelling step by step. As children progress, they learn to express their ideas clearly, write with increasing independence and adapt their writing for different purposes. Through purposeful and engaging writing opportunities, we help every child develop a love of writing and the confidence to communicate effectively, supporting our vision of Excellence Every Day.
